Visayas Avenue Redevelopment Ongoing
The Visayas Avenue Sidewalk Redevelopment Project has finally started. A dream project of the Barangay Council which we proposed to Mayor Sonny Belmonte, the project will hopefully revive the commercial activities in the main avenue of Barangay Vasra. With this project we hope to redevelop Visayas Avenue as one of the premier restaurant rows in Quezon City.
The project consists of installing beautiful red and yellow concrete pavers sidewalks and proper parking areas in Visayas Avenue. Aerial streetlights along the sidewalk will also be installed for proper illumination of the whole avenue.
Total length of the project will be from Quezon Memorial Circle up to Congressional Avenue consisting a total area of 31,080 m2. The sidewalk total width will be 7.5 meters from the street gutter thus avoiding the demolition of any private properties/establishments along Visayas Avenue.
One of only three approved avenue redevelopment plans in Quezon City, Visayas Avenue was fortunate to be picked by the Quezon City Government as one of the streets to be fully redeveloped. One of the big infrastructure projects now ongoing in our barangay, the beautification of Visayas Avenue will certainly help Vasra integrate with the massive development of our adjacent areas such as the future Central Business District in the Trinoma area at North Avenue, the UP-Ayala Science and Technology Park at the Philcoa area and the transformation of Quezon Memorial Circle as a world class park.
Due to the ongoing construction, the Barangay Council would like to apologize to the residents and business establishments affected and inconvenienced by the project. For any information or concerns about the project please feel free to ask the barangay. Rest be assured that with the completion of this project, Visayas Avenue will soon be one of the most beautiful avenues in Metro Manila.
Operation Tuli: 80 Vasra Boys Circumcised
The first Konsehal Dra. Doray Delarmente Operation Tuli in Vasra was succesfully implemented last May 10, 2008 at the Vasra Barangay Hall. Our barangay hall was literally transformed into a hospital on that day with 150 boys (68 of that were from Vasra) availed of the free circumcision project of COuncilor Doray in cooperation with the Vasra Barangay Council.
Another Operation Tule sponsored by Vasra's partner Rotary Club (Rotary CLub of Quezon City CIrcle) was also held last May 25, 2008 wherein 33 Vasra boys were circumcised.
Spearheaded by the the Health Committee of the Barangay Council led by Committee Chairman Gildo Aviles the Operation Tule Program will be an annual summer event in Barangay Vasra

Vasra Volleyball Team Grand Champion!!!
The Vasra Girls Volleyball Team won the Grand Championship in the recent 2008 Quezon City Batang Olympics. Besting 141 Quezon City barangays, Vasra got the grand championship prize for the volleyball competition in the annual city's youth games. Batang QC Olympics, the city's summer youth games is initiated by Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista and Mayor Sonny Belmonte which is designed to discover local city sports talents and to instill the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and collegiality to our youth.
The whole barangay is proud of our girls who despite their height limitation bested other much taller teams to be the grand champions. All residents of Vasra, mostly from Sitio Palanas, the team was guided by their coach Francis Quilanita and assistant coach Aga Pascasio. Manager of the team was Sk Chairman Paul Pangalinan along with his SK council.
Ang galing nyo!!!
